Program Description:The Information Technology Administration program is designed to provide students, who have previous computer training or experience, with networking concepts knowledge and the administration of a network for providing an organization with business solutions. The curriculum emphasizes quantitative and communications skills as well as providing a foundation in business environments. Upon graduation, students will receive the Information Technology Administration Diploma. Graduates of this program will qualify to work in the Information Technology Department of an organization and will be able to maintain network and computer systems. This program provides the skills to build and manage network systems in a business environment. Emphasis is placed on practical skills using a hands-on approach, including a industry-based work placement. Areas of study include network security, internet working, Information Technology management, Linux, Microsoft and Other operating systems.
Program Length: The Diploma in Information Technology Administration program is an intensive one year program that prepares students for a career in IT Administration and Security. The program includes six months full time classroom learning and a six months co-op term as industry work experience. The Diploma in Information Technology program includes 500 hours of required course hours. The program is offered in a full-time format, mostly scheduled during the day, four hrs everyday Monday to Friday.

Install, configure, administer, and troubleshoot functional network operating systems, infrastructure services, equipment (including wireless), security, and protocols.

Install, configure, manage, and maintain Cisco routers and switches network systems.

Display a solid foundation in Internetworking and Cisco networking, including WAN, LAN, ISDN, TCP/IP, and SPX/IPX.

Manage and maintain Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment, Network Structure, Exchange Server.

Install, Configure, and Administer Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/Windows7 Professional.

Demonstrate the ability to administer client-server applications.

Instructors have direct industry experience, and bring a wealth of practical information, certified my Microsoft, Novell, Cisco, and CompTIA.
Learning Resources Hampton College is an Authorized Microsoft IT Academy and a Prometric Testing Centre which assure the quality of instruction and infrastructure. Students can write vendor’s exam on campus. Being a Microsoft IT Academy Program Member, Hampton College uses only Microsoft Official Academic Course (MOAC) as Textbook. Microsoft Official Academic Courses are the next generation of the popular Academic Learning Series, which was developed by Microsoft especially for instructors who teach Microsoft networking technologies in the academic classroom. The Official Academic Courses have been redesigned to reflect the new job-task focus of the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Certified Professional track, making them ideally suited for preparing students for the Microsoft Certified Professional exams.
For other courses Hampton College will use only Vendor approved courseware.
Co-op Term: The HAC Co-op program will be executed to povide students with counseling, work-site monitoring, employer evaluations, and student report. The number of working hours would be more than 20 hours per week. For a student to obtain HAC Co-op session, he/she must successfully complete the six months academic course and complete their Co-op term. Therefore, the Co-op component is mandatory for this program.
Assessment: Students are assessed according to Hampton College assessment guidelines to ensure successful acquisition of skills and concepts. Assessment is based on attendance and participation, assignments, presentations, projects, quizzes and exams. Students must achieve a minimum of 60% in every course and module and cannot be absent more than seven classes (one class for each month of academic study). Completion of the vendor (Microsoft, CompTIA) certifications are optional to students and helps students obtain jobs after graduation.
Graduation Requirements: To graduate from the Diploma in Information Technology Administration program, participants must not be absent more than seven classes (one class for each month of academic study) including scheduled classes, supervised labs and discussion sessions; successfully complete required program requirements with a minimum of 60% on all graded assignments, presentations, exams.
Course Modifications: Hampton College reserves the right to review the Diploma in Information Technology Administration program and make any change over time to reflect the industry demand, needs of students, new best practices and technologies, and the best use of resources. The program may also change in duration, number of instructional hours or requirements for completion.
